In partnership with SelectHealth, Murray Parks & Recrea- tion introduces its second annual “Pickleball in the Park” event for the public to learn to play this popular sport suit- able for all ages. The event at Murray Park will feature two outdoor pickleball courts, basic instruction, exhibition play, and information booths. Come out and play pickleball in the park. Pickleball in the Park ---PAGE BREAK--- Playing Pickleball Pickleball is a simple paddle game played using a special perforated, slow-moving wiffle ball over a tennis type net and smaller court. USA Pickleball Association Http://www.usapa.org/ The ball is served underhand without bouncing it off the court and is served diagonally to the opponent’s service court Points are scored by serving side only and occur when the opponent faults ( fails to return ball, hits ball out of bounds, etc.) The server continues to serve, alternat- ing service courts, until the serve faults. The first side scoring 11 points and leading by at least 2 point margin wins. For example, it both sides are tied at 10 points, then play continues until one side wins by 2 points. Double Bounce Rule: Following serve, each side must make it least one ground stroke, hitting the ball after it bounces, before volleyball the ball. Non Volley Zone: A player cannot volley a ball while standing within the non-volley zone. OPEN PLAY AT THE PARK CENTER Dates: Through July 25 Days: Fridays Time: 6—9:30 PM Cost: FREE Park Center Members (active park center membership) Non-Park Center Members (must purchase one of the following) $6.00 Adult Daily Admission $5.00 Senior Daily Admission $25.00 Pickle ball passes (6 passes) Silver sneaker access does not include open Pickleball. Outdoor Courts in the East Parking lot at the Park Center are now open. You must bring your own racquet and balls.
