RESOLUTION NO. 97-01 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF MOSCOW, A MUNiCIPAL CORPORATION OF THE STATE OF IDAHO, DESIGNATiNG THE TffiRD MONDAY OF THE YEAR AS MARTiN LUTHER KlNG, JR - IDAHO HUMAN RIGHTS DAY AND DESIGNATiNG SUCH DAY AS A NON-BUSINESS DAY FOR THE CITY AND ADOPTiNG AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the City of Moscow has continuously supported diversity in our community and has rejected discrimination and harassment in all forms; and, WHEREAS, the City of Moscow recognizes the accomplishments and teachings of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. in raising awareness regarding issues of human rights; and, WHEREAS, the City of Moscow desires to set an example of diversity and harmony in our dealings with all citizens and in all human endeavors. NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MOSCOW AS FOLLOWS: 1. That the City hereby adopts the third Monday of January as Martin Luther King, Jr. - Idaho Human Rights Day and declares such day as a non-business day. 2. That the City encourages all of our citizens to reflect on the purpose of this day and further encourages acceptance and appreciation of all human beings. 3. That such policy be effective from the date of adoption of this resolution. PASSED by the City Council and APPROVED by the Mayor this 6th day of January, 1997. ATJEST: · . .
