STUDENT EMPLOYMENT PROCLAMATION WHEREAS, Each year colleges and universities across the country set aside a special week to recognize the importance of the student work experience, and WHEREAS, A well-educated workforce contributes to a more productive and prosperous community, and WHEREAS, Attracting and retaining students in our colleges and universities is critical to the future of our community, state, nation, and world, and WHEREAS, Employment helps students of higher education stay in school, while promoting practical application of classroom learning, and WHEREAS, Both the private and public sectors in the city of Moscow benefit from student workers and the experience these students gain, WHEREAS, the City of Moscow supports employment opportunities for students while they are in school and believes in promoting job availability for graduating students. NOW, THEREFORE, I, Nancy Chaney, Mayor of the City of Moscow, do hereby proclaim April 9-15, 2007, as Student Employment Week in the City of Moscow, and call upon all the residents of this city to join with the University of Idaho and Washington State University in observing this week and recognizing the reliability, initiative and unique contributions of student employees.
