PROCLAMATION WHEREAS: The current month of October offers a unique moment in human history; and WHEREAS: There is the confluence of various faith traditions: the Islamic month of Ramadan, the Jewish New Year and Yom Kippur, All-Saints Day and the World Communion Day, and the Birth of Bab in Baha’ism; and WHEREAS: Regardless of our personal spiritual paths, this unique confluence is a reminder for all of us to honor each other with an appreciation and tolerance for each other’s beliefs; and WHEREAS: As we share our spiritual journeys, meditations and traditions and extend our common humanity, compassion, understanding, tolerance, and acceptance so together we may heal and build our community and the world around us; and WHEREAS: Although the City of Moscow does not endorse any particular or individual religion, the beliefs of our citizens helps us to create the fabric of our community. NOW, THEREFORE, I, Nancy Chaney, Mayor of the City of Moscow, in the State of Idaho, do hereby proclaim the month of October, as: CONFLUENCE OF TRADITIONS MONTH in Moscow and urge all citizens to practice their organized and individual beliefs in a manner of peace, tolerance and acceptance. IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the Seal of the City of Moscow to be affixed this 2nd day of October, 2006. Nancy Chaney, Mayor
