RESOLUTION NO. 2001-07 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF MOSCOW, A MUNICIPAL CORPORATION OF THE STATE OF IDAHO, RECOGNIZING THE EARLY CHILDHOOD SERVICE COUNCIL OF LATAH COUNTY, PROVIDING THIS RESOLUTION TO BE EFFECTIVE UPON ITS PASSAGE AND APPROVAL. WHEREAS, City of Moscow is interested in promoting early learning opportunities for our young children; and WHEREAS, City of Moscow is concerned with removing impediments to early learning opportunities for all families in Latah County; and WHEREAS, Current early childhood services available in Moscow and Latah County are limited and informally organized; and WHEREAS, The Early Childhood Service Council of Latah County is affiliated with Gritrnan Medical Center will act as a clearinghouse for information and organizational resources to the Moscow and Latah County community regarding early childhood/family service and advocacy issues; and WHEREAS, The Early Childhood Service Council of Latah County requests recognition by the City as a "Council" in order to gain eligibility for federal grant funding. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and City Council of the City of Moscow as follows: 1. The City believes the mission of the Early Childhood Service Council of Latah County will satisfY a critical need in our community and region. 2. It is expected that federal funds will be an integral part of long-term financial stability for the Early Childhood Service Council of Latah County and will enhance the services the organization can offer to our community. 3. The City hereby recognizes the Early Childhood Service Council of Latah County as a local "Council" to satisfY federal definitions needed to apply for grants and administer funds in order to accomplish its mission.
