RESOLUTION NO. 91-04 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF MOSCOW, A MUNICIPAL CORPORATION OF IDAHO; ENCOURAGING THE IDAHO LEGISLATURE TO ENACT LEGISLATION THAT PROVIDES FOR INCREASED FUNDING FROM THE HIGHWAY USERS AND FOR THE ABILITY OF LOCAL GOVERNMENTS TO RAISE FUNDS FOR STREET PURPOSES. WHEREAS, the Idaho Legislature is considering the recommendations from the Governor for increasing funding for roads, and; WHEREAS, an interim legislative committee of the Idaho Legislature called for increasing funding for roads in Idaho, and; WHEREAS, a survey by the Moscow Chamber of Commerce showed that the local business community favored an increase in gasoline tax and vehicle registration tax for funding Idaho's roads, and; WHEREAS, the City of Moscow lacks adequate street revenue to fund necessary maintenance and reconstruction; NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL AS FOLLOWS: The Idaho Legislature should enact legislation that provides for increased funding from the highway users and for the ability of local governments to raise funds for street purposes.
