VANDAL SPIRIT FRIDAYS WHEREAS, The University of Idaho was established in Moscow, Idaho in 1889; and WHEREAS, Since that time, the University has provided scholarship opportunities to thousands of students; and WHEREAS, The University of Idaho and the City of Moscow find it advantageous to promote higher education and acknowledge its fundamental importance to our community and society; and WHEREAS, Public awareness is enhanced through traditions that celebrate the college experience; and WHEREAS, The theme, Vandal Spirit Fridays promotes participation in activities that showcase the University of Idaho; and WHEREAS, It is traditional for fans to wear apparel representing their favorite academic institution; and WHEREAS, The kickoff for Vandal Spirit Fridays coincides with back-to-school activities and the return of intercollegiate athletics, including football, at the University of Idaho; now NOW, THEREFORE: I, Nancy Chaney Mayor of the City of Moscow, do hereby proclaim Friday, August 27, 2010 as the kickoff to: Vandal Spirit Fridays in Moscow and I encourage all Vandal fans to show their support by wearing University of Idaho colors and apparel to show their Vandal spirit on that Friday and every Friday throughout the academic year.
