PROCLAMATION WHEREAS: As inhabitants of this Earth we need a day to celebrate our global unity and destiny, and WHEREAS: The observance of EARTH DAY will highlight and focus our attention on our planet, country and community with its precious treasure of living things. WHEREAS: EARTH DAY is a day celebrated around the globe to remind each everyone of the equal rights of all members of our global community to use of our Earth and at the same time the equal responsibility of each person to preserve and improve the Earth and the quality of life in their local community. NOW THEREFORE, I The Mayor of Moscow, Idaho hereby proclaim Saturday, April 22, 2006 to be observed and celebrated as EARTH DAY in the City of Moscow-- a special day to remember Earth's tender seedlings of life and people; a day for planting trees and flowers; a day for cleaning streams, woods and fields; a day for reminding us of how we can all help to preserve the wonderful environment that we enjoy as citizens of Moscow I also invite all citizens throughout the Moscow community to join in observing EARTH DAY and the week leading up to it, by taking part in whichever activities and events they deem appropriate to reflect their personal commitment to maintaining the special quality of life that we enjoy as resident of Moscow.
