NATIONAL PET WEEK PROCLAMATION WHEREAS, National Pet Week is an event the annually supports responsible pet ownership as organized by the Auxiliary of the American Veterinary Medical Association; and WHEREAS, In 2006, nearly half of pet owners, or 49.7%, considered their pets to be family members; and WHEREAS, The event rejoices the bond between humans and their pets; and WHEREAS, As research shows that more than half of pet-owners claimed to be happy with little stress; and WHEREAS, The celebration of National Pet Week promotes publics consciousness of veterinary medicine. NOW THEREFORE, I, Nancy Chaney, Mayor of the City of Moscow, do hereby proclaim May 4 – 10, 2008, as a week of celebration and recognition of: National Pet Week to support the efforts of the American Veterinary Medical Association in promoting health and safety for pets.
