RESOLUTION NO. 97-15 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MOSCOW, A MUNICIPAL CORPORATION OF THE STATE OF IDAHO, ADOPTING A TWO WEEK BURNING SEASON AS DETERMINED BY THE FIRE CHIEF AND BASED UPON APPROPRIATE WEATHER CONDITIONS. WHEREAS, City of Moscow wishes to preserve the beauty of its skies and other environs in the surrounding areas; and WHEREAS, the City also wishes to support and preserve the good health enjoyed by its citizens; and WHEREAS, the City understands the occasional need for the destruction of appropriate organic material by burning; and WHEREAS, such burning should be allowed during a two-week period within the Spring of each year, which period shall include three weekends, as determined by the Fire Chief; and WHEREAS, the Fire Chief has expertise to determine the appropriate time period and weather conditions to facilitate the safe burning of garden waste, tree trimmings, and brush; and WHEREAS, the Fire Chief has determined that such burning period shall not include lot burning, the burning of leaves, grass trimmings, or any rubbish containing paper products; and WHEREAS, the City has determined that a Fall burning period in Moscow is undesirable and unnecessary; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and City Council of the City of Moscow that there shall be a two-week Spring burning period approved by the Mayor and City Council of the City of Moscow based upon the recommendation of the Fire Chief who shall take into account weather conditions, appropriate materials which may be burned, and the necessity of such burning.
