EARTH DAY PROCLAMATION WHEREAS, The first EARTH DAY was celebrated on April 22, 1970; and WHEREAS, EARTH DAY originated in the US and became recognized worldwide by 1990; and WHEREAS, every year on April 22, men, women, and children collect garbage, plant trees, celebrate sustainable accomplishments, and more; and WHEREAS, The observance of EARTH DAY will highlight and focus our attention on our planet, our country, and our community; and WHEREAS, EARTH DAY is a day celebrated around the globe to remind all of us of the responsibility of each person to preserve and improve the earth and the quality of life in his or her local community. NOW THEREFORE, I, Bill Lambert, Mayor of the City of Moscow, Idaho do hereby proclaim April 22, 2016 to be observed and celebrated as Earth Day in the City of Moscow, a special day to remember our Earth; a day for reminding us of how we can all help to preserve the wonderful environment that we enjoy as citizens of Moscow.
