EVERYBODY READS WEEK WHEREAS, The goals of the Everybody Reads Program are to cultivate interest in reading, to develop a sense of community among the readers of our region, to broaden and deepen people’s appreciation of literature through reading and discussion, and to present community events featuring a noted author; and WHEREAS, Everybody Reads was established in 2001 as a collaborative effort among Confluence Press, Asotin County Library and Lewiston County Library; and WHEREAS, Everybody Reads has expanded to include the communities of Moscow, Pullman, Asotin, Lapwai, Colfax, Garfield and Palouse, as well as Clarkston and Lewiston; and WHEREAS, Everybody Reads encourages people throughout our region to read and discuss the same book and to invite the author to participate in related community activities; and WHEREAS, 1,957 in our region attended events related to Everybody Reads in 2007; and WHEREAS, The 2008 Everybody Reads Program will feature the book, Decade of the Wolf by Gary Ferguson and Douglas Smith; and WHEREAS, Gary Ferguson will be in our communities from November 9th through November 14th, 2008; NOW THEREFORE, I, Nancy Chaney, Mayor of the City of Moscow, do hereby proclaim November 9 – 14, 2008 as Everybody Reads Week within Moscow and urge all citizens to participate in the everybody Reads Program.
