AMERICANS WITH DISABILITIES PROCLAMATION WHEREAS, 17 years ago, the United States passed the Americans with Disabilities Act on July 26, 1990; and WHEREAS, All People with disabilities have a right to feel comfortable and safe, have adequate accessible housing, full access to shopping, medical appointments, employment, and recreation; and WHEREAS, Since the passage of the ADA, the City of Moscow has strived to comply with ADA standards, making accommodations for more accessibility in public places and continues to work with the advocates to remove barriers; and NOW, THEREFORE, I, Nancy Chaney, Mayor of the City of Moscow, do hereby proclaim July 26, 2007, to be Americans with Disabilities Act Celebration Day in the City of Moscow, and I urge all citizens to recognize the Americans with Disabilities Act and to support efforts toward providing equal opportunities for people with disabilities in our community.
