MOSCOW CommUNITY WALK PROCLAMATION WHEREAS, 2012 marks the 6th consecutive year of Moscow’s CommUNITY Walk; and WHEREAS, The example we set can inspire others around the region and the world; and WHEREAS, This event celebrates and nourishes Moscow’s reputation as a welcoming, inclusive community; and WHEREAS, Moscow Human Rights Commission, Latah County Human Rights Task Force, the Office of Human Rights, Access, and Inclusion at the University of Idaho, affiliates of the fledgling Northwest Coalition for Human Rights, and their allies are committed protecting civil and human rights through social justice and unity; and WHEREAS, Human rights are the rights of everyone, furthered by efforts to improve relations and guide policies and practices that support those rights; and WHEREAS, The CommUNITY Walk symbolizes our commitment to preserving and enhancing peace and understanding among people of all persuasions; NOW, THEREFORE, I, Nancy Chaney, Mayor for the City of Moscow, do hereby proclaim Saturday, April 28th, 2012 as CommUNITY Walk Day in the City of Moscow, and I urge everyone to promote compassionate connections and to join in this inspirational event.
