WATER SAFETY MONTH PROCLAMATION WHEREAS, swimming and aquatic-related activities contribute to good physical and mental health; and WHEREAS, education in water safety helps prevent drowning and water-related injuries; and WHEREAS, the National Water Safety Month Coalition, representing the recreational water industry, contributes to the development of safe swimming facilities, water parks, home pools, and spas; and WHEREAS, programs offered by the recreational water industry bring pleasure, build confidence, improve safety, and enhance the quality of life among participants; and WHEREAS, it is desirable that the public is educated about pool, water park, and spa safety issues; and WHEREAS, water safety rules and programs apply to people of all ages, and to public and private facilities; NOW, THEREFORE, I, Nancy Chaney, Mayor of the City of Moscow, do hereby proclaim May 2010 as Water Safety Month in the City of Moscow and I encourage all residents and visitors to become informed about water safety and the products and facilities related to aquatic recreation.
