RESOLUTION NO. 2015 - 16 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF MOSCOW, IDAHO, A MUNICIPAL CORPORATION OF · THE STA TE OF IDAHO, TO PROHIBIT SMOKING WITHIN THE BOUNDARIES OF THE FARMERS MARKET DURING THE HOURS OF OPERATION AND THROUGH THE DURATION OF THE FARMERS MARKET SEASON; PROVIDING THAT THIS RESOLUTION SHALL BE IN EFFECT UPON ITS PAS SAGE, AND APPROVAL. WHEREAS, Farmers Market has been in existence for over thirty eight (38) years; and WHEREAS, Farmers Market is an integral part of Moscow's vibrant downtown; and WHEREAS, visitors to Farmers Market are in close proximity to each other and in a compact area; and WHEREAS, the Farmers Market Commission has heard many complaints of cigarette smoke in the Farmers Market near the prepared food area and areas where children are present; and WHEREAS, smoking in the Farmers Market boundaries diminishes enjoyment for many visitors and vendors to the Farmers Market; and WHEREAS, Public Health officials have found inhaling cigarette smoke, including secondhand smoke, causes many health problems and diseases, including lung disease, heart ailments, and cancer in non-smoking adults and children; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and City Council of the City of Moscow as follows: Smoking is prohibited within the boundaries of the Farmers Market during the hours of operation and through the duration of the Farmers Market season, the first Saturday in May through and including the last Saturday in October. That this Resolution shall become effective as of the 20th day of July, 2015. PASSED AND APPROVED by the Mayor of the City of Moscow, Idaho, this 20th day of July, 2015.
