August 19, 2019 PRESS RELEASE Citizen’s Police Academy The Monument Police Department is pleased to announce that it is now taking applications for the fall Citizens Police Academy. This no-cost, seven-week program, which will run from October 1st, 2019 through November 12th 2019, is open to all who live or work in the Tri-Lakes area. The Monument Police Department believes that this is a great opportunity for the citizens in the Tri-Lakes area to see firsthand what law enforcement is all about. The Academy is designed to increase understanding between citizens and the police through education. During the seven-week Academy, participants will learn about criminal law, patrol procedures, use of force, traffic safety, internal affairs, community policing, dispatch services, and have the opportunity to shoot a variety of police weapons and much more. Classes will be held on Tuesday evenings from 7:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. at the Monument Police Department, 645 Beacon Lite Road, and one Saturday at the range.
