The State remits the sales taxes to the Town in the month following the reporting date. August is the eight month with improved results with August 2019 sales tax collections increasing 22% ($122,000) over August 2018. Total collections for August exceeded the budget projection by $94,000 The Town's year-to-date collections have increased 15% ($623,000) over 2018 collections, with increases seen in all sectors and geographic areas. In addition, the Town is receiving additional remote tax collections as anticipated after the implementation of the new state regulations regarding out-of-state retailers. As compared to the 2019 budgeted year-to-date collections, the Town has collected an additional $417,000 (10%) in gross sales taxes.
