With the COVID-19 pandemic and business shut-downs that started mid March, some stores actually saw increased sales tax due to increased foot traffic with shoppers stocking up on essentials. Other businesses that closed or reduced services saw decreases in sales tax revenue from 20-50%. Some have begun to rebound in sales tax collections, but others are still much lower than usual. As compared to the 2020 budgeted year-to-date collections, the Town has collected 13.84% over what was budgeted.
