That the proposed Appendix F and Map B, C, and D (addressing Wildland Urban Interface) be approved as an amendment to the 2005 Missoula County Growth Policy PROPOSAL The Planning Board has already received a memorandum from Rural Initiatives describing the proposal (dated January 12, 2010). Due to changes in state law, the Missoula County Rural Initiatives Office has been directed to develop minor amendments to the County's 2005 Growth Policy dealing with sand and gravel extraction and the Wildland Urban Interface. Rural Initiatives began this project for the Board of County Commissioners (BCC) and is asking for your recommendation on behalf of the BCC. For the purpose of consistency in the policies of the Board of County Commissioners and Missoula City Council, the same amendments will also be considered by the City Council. In addition to the agency review conducted by Rural Initiatives, Urban Initiatives staff sent the proposed Growth Policy Amendment to City agencies and other organizations. Comments were received by three agencies: the Missoula City/County Health Department noticed a possible typo on page 3, point #3 of the Rural Initiatives memo; the City Parks Department stated that they do not have any comments at this time, and the City Fire Department raised a concern about coordination between language in the City Subdivision Regulations and the proposed amendment to the growth policy for wildland urban interface.
