City of Missoula, Montana Item to be Referred to City Council Committee Committee: Public Works Committee Item: Public Hearing on draft Master Sidewalk Plan Date: February 24, 2010 Prepared by: Jason Wiener Initiated by: Jason Wiener Action Required: Schedule a public hearing on the City of Missoula draft Master Sidewalk Plan Recommended Motion: The committee recommends the City Council schedule a public hearing on April 5th to present and take public comment on the draft Master Sidewalk Plan. Timeline: Referral to committee: 3/1/10 Committee discussion: 3/3/10 Background and Alternatives Explored: The draft Master Sidewalk Plan establishes a strategy for the systematic completion, repair and upgrade of the City sidewalk system. The draft Master Sidewalk Plan includes goals for improvements, methods and procedures involved in determining the priorities for improvements, and a map showing what sidewalk improvements are proposed to be made in priority order. The Master Sidewalk Plan is a policy that guides the Public Works Department and is incorporated in other planning documents adopted by City Council so the Plan is not proposed for formal adoption by City Council in conjunction with this hearing, which aims to acknowledge the substantial public interest in sidewalk improvements and solicit public input on the Plan.
