RESOLUTION NUMBER 7448 A RESOLUTION OF THE MISSOULA CITY COUNCIL AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO SIGN FOR AND UTILIZE $200,000 OF AMERICAN RECOVERY AND REINVESTMENT ACT GRANT FUNDS FOR CITY PROJECT NO. 2009-030 “RATTLESNAKE GATEWAY/GREENOUGH DRIVE.” WHEREAS, the City of Missoula has been approved to receive $200,000 of American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) grant funds designated for use to design and construct City Project No. 2009-030 “Rattlesnake Gateway/Greenough Drive;” and WHEREAS, the purpose of this project is to install sidewalk, curbing and bike lanes; starting at the intersection of Madison and Spruce then continuing north over the Montana Rail Link railroad tracks, under I-90 and up Greenough Drive to the Water Works Trailhead, and along the Greenough Frontage of Greenough Park including some landscaping and other beatification in the area between the railroad and I-90; and WHEREAS, this area has long been considered a significant bicycle and pedestrian corridor with very heavy use with Greenough Drive as one of only two accesses to the Rattlesnake Valley and all pedestrian, bicycle and vehicular traffic is funneled together at this point; and WHEREAS, the ARRA funds in combination with other funding sources will pay for the project including the described amenities; and WHEREAS, it is the intention of the Missoula City Council to authorize the Mayor to accept and sign for the ARRA funds and direct staff to utilize the funds for said project on behalf of the City of Missoula. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Missoula, Montana that the Mayor of Missoula is hereby authorized and directed to accept the $200,000 ARRA grant on behalf of the City of Missoula and sign all documents related to the grant and utilize the funds for Project No. 2009-030 “Rattlesnake Gateway/Greenough Drive;” and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that staff is hereby directed to proceed with the steps necessary to implement the project as described, subject to the approval of the City Council.
