GREAT “GOT NATURE?” CAMPOUT AT FORT MISSOULA The Missoula Children and Nature Network wants to take you camping this fall! On September 19-20, the Network will host The Great “Got Nature?” Campout at Fort Missoula. All children and their parents or special adults are welcome, especially those with little or no prior camping experience. The Campout is free, and food and some gear is provided. Staff from Missoula Parks and Recreation, the Montana Natural History Center, Missoula Outdoor Learning Adventures and many other local organizations will be on hand to teach basic camping skills and lead family activities. The campout begins at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 19 and ends at 10:00 a.m. on Sunday, September 20. The event features a variety of safe, fun, structured and unstructured activities, including games, apple-pressing, historic fire tower tours, and campfire entertainment. All food (snacks, dinner, s’mores, breakfast) is provided, and participants will cook their own meals over portable campfire pits. A limited number of tents, sleeping bags, and sleeping pads will also be available. The campout is geared for ages 5 to 12, but younger siblings are welcome. ---PAGE BREAK--- Children must be accompanied by an adult for the entire campout and pre-registration is required. Registration forms are available at Currents Aquatics Center, the Montana Natural History Center, Big Brothers / Big Sisters of Missoula, the Historical Museum at Fort Missoula, MCPS Family Resource Centers, or online at www.missoulachildrenandnature.org and www.missoulaparks.org. The Great “Got Nature?” Campout is September’s installment of the Missoula Children and Nature Network’s “Got Nature?” passport program, a series of free, kid-friendly, nature-based events designed to foster connections between youth and nature in the Missoula area. The Missoula Children and Nature Network (MCNN) is an affiliation of organizations, agencies, businesses, and individuals committed to the goal of connecting youth with the natural world. Each month, MCNN offers one or more free, family-oriented, nature-based events through the “Got Nature?” passport program.
