City of Missoula, Montana Item to be Referred to City Council Committee Committee: Public Works Committee Item: Purchase of One Accident Investigation Pickup Truck Date: Tuesday, September 01, 2009 Prepared by: Jack Stucky Initiated by: Jack Stucky Action Required: Please return all bid bonds and award the purchase of one 2010 Dodge Dakota Crew Cab Pickup from Ronan Dodge of Ronan, Montana for a total of $20,732. Ronan Dodge is the low bid vendor. This truck is being purchased for the City of Missoula Police Department. Please see the attached bid tabulations. Recommended Motion: The committee recommends the City Council return all bid bonds and award the purchase of one 2010 Dodge Dakota Crew Cab Pickup from Ronan Dodge of Ronan, Montana for a total of $20,732. Timeline: Referral to committee: September 14, 2009 Committee discussion: September 23, 2009 Background and Alternatives Explored: This purchase is a result of the scheduled equipment replacement and will replace unit 18 in the Police Department. This smaller pickup will replace a full size van. Traffic service vehicles, traditionally Accident Investigation (AI) vans, are used to respond to and document accidents. A small 4 wheel drive pickup was selected to reduce fuel consumption and enable the AI personnel to transport bicycles in the back. Financial Implications: There is $35,000 budgeted for this purchase in the Police Department Capital Replacement fund. Ronan Dodge had no significant exceptions to the bids and is the low bid vendor.
