RESOLUTION NUMBER A RESOLUTION OF THE MISSOULA CITY COUNCIL AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO SIGN FOR AND UTILIZE $380,000 OF FUNDS ALLOCATED THROUGH MONTANA HOUSE BILL 645 (HB645) FOR CITY PROJECT NO. 2009-045a “PLAYGROUND INSTALLATIONS” WHEREAS, the City of Missoula is applying to receive $380,000 of funding from HB645 designated for use to design and construct City Project No. 2009-045a “Playground Installations;” and WHEREAS, the purpose of this project is to replace 3 playgrounds, one each in Boyd, Sacajawea and Marilyn Parks and to provide one new playground in newly developed Lafray Park providing important healthy, nearby and free recreation for children of all demographics; and WHEREAS, the project is proposed to consist of: 1) development of specifications and performance requirements and bid/procurement documents for each playground 2) demolition of existing aged playgrounds which no longer meet current standards 3) installation of borders, drainage, fall zone material and playground components; and WHEREAS, each playground installation project is identified in the Capital Improvement Program and Master Park Plan; and WHEREAS, the HB645 funds in combination with ARRA/CTEP contributions will fund the project including the described amenities; and WHEREAS, it is the intention of the Missoula City Council to authorize the Mayor to accept and sign for the HB645 funds and direct staff to utilize the funds for said project on behalf of the City of Missoula. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Missoula, Montana that the Mayor of Missoula is hereby authorized and directed to accept the $380,000 HB645 grant on behalf of the City of Missoula and sign all documents related to the grant and utilize the funds for Project No. 2009-045a “Playground Installations;” and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that staff is hereby directed to proceed with the steps necessary to implement the project as described, subject to the approval of the City Council.
