City of Missoula, Montana Item to be Referred to City Council Committee Committee: Public Works Committee Item: Purchase of One Street Flusher Truck Date: Friday, September 04, 2009 Prepared by: Jack Stucky Initiated by: Jack Stucky Action Required: Approve and authorize the Mayor to sign a memorandum of agreement with the Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) to purchase one street flusher truck. This truck is part of a Montana Air and Congestion Initiative (MACI) purchase. Please see the attached MDT memorandum of agreement. Recommended Motion: The committee recommends the City Council authorize the Mayor to sign a memorandum of agreement with the Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) to purchase one street flusher truck for $50,067, the City of Missoula’s portion of the total MDT cost of $164,587. Timeline: Referral to committee: 9/14/09 Committee discussion: 9/16/09 Background and Alternatives Explored: This purchase is a result of the scheduled equipment replacement in combination with MACI fund availability. Traditionally, all of the City Street sweeping and flushing equipment has been purchase with CMAQ and MACI funds. The vehicle replacement schedule has to be adjusted to compensate for CMAQ and MACI opportunities and available funding. Financial Implications: The total cost of the flusher truck is $164,587. The City of Missoula will be responsible for $50,067. MDT (MACI) will pay the remaining $114,520. Attachments: Memorandum of Agreement
