City of Missoula, Montana Item to be Referred to City Council Committee Committee: Administration and Finance (A&F) Item: Recommendations for HOME and CDBG awards for Program Year 2010 Date: January 8th, 2010 Prepared by: Mike Barton and Nancy Harte, OPG Initiated by: Mike Barton and Nancy Harte Action Required: To set a public hearing to consider staff recommendations for awards under the Home Investment Partnership (HOME) and Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) programs. Recommended Motion: I move the City Council set a public hearing for Monday, February 8, 2010, to adopt the staff recommendations for HOME and CDBG awards. Timeline: Referral to committee: January 8th, 2010 Committee discussion: TBA Council acts to set hearing: TBA Public Hearing: February 8, 2010 Background and Alternatives Explored: The Office of Planning and Grants conducted a public meeting and workshop in September, 2009, for agencies to submit proposals for housing, economic development, public facilities/infrastructure and public services, to be funded by the HOME and CDBG programs. Applications received by the November, 2009, deadline were reviewed by staff. Staff has determined that all proposals represent eligible activities under their respective categories. Financial Implications: Awards are contingent upon amount granted by congressional appropriation through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.
