The public can expect to see a significant presence of police officers during the event. “The highest priority of the Missoula Police Department will be public safety, maintaining the peace and protection of property during the event,” said Sgt. Greg Amundsen. “Our primary objective will be to provide a safe and enjoyable environment for all citizens in Missoula to have an enjoyable time during the River Rod Run event.” The Police Department asks for help from the public during the event. Violators will be cited and risk being removed from the area. “This is an important event for the downtown and the city of Missoula,” Amundsen said, “and we want to see it continue in a safe and responsible manner.” The Garden City River Rod Run is produced by the Missoula Downtown Association in partnership with Cherry Creek Radio. It will feature nearly 200 classic and hot rod cars and close to 3,000 spectators to downtown Missoula. The parade on Higgins Avenue from 9 p.m. to 10 p.m. is a highlight of the event.
