M E M O R A N D U M TO: MRA Board FROM: Tod Gass, Redevelopment Project Coordinator DATE: October 14, 2010 SUBJECT: Catlin/Wyoming Curb & Sidewalk Project Award Landscaping Contract – Brugh Landscaping The Catlin/Wyoming curb and sidewalk construction is complete. The final element to complete MRA's work in the Project Area is to install street trees and grass seed areas that were disturbed during construction. Last month Staff amended the Agreement For Professional Services with Professional Consultants Incorporated to include final design, bidding services, construction management, and project closeout for this final phase of work. The Catlin/Wyoming landscaping consists of planting 61 trees of various desirable street tree species, and grass seeding 2,250 sq-yds of area disturbed by curb & sidewalk construction. An Invitation to Bid was publicly advertised in the Independent on Sept. 30th and Oct. 7th for the landscaping work. Four bids were received and publicly opened and read on October 12th, 2010. The low bid was submitted by Brugh Landscaping in the amount of $28,213.95. The low bid is $14,786 below the engineer's estimate of $43,000. Most recently, Brugh Landscaping worked successfully with MRA on the MOBASH Skatepark. Attached is the Bid Tabulation Sheet showing the range of the four bids. The engineer has reviewed the Brugh Landscaping bid and found it to be correct and complete. STAFF RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends the Board move to award the landscaping contract for the Catlin/Wyoming St Curb & Sidewalk Project to Brugh Landscaping, in the amount of $28,213.95, authorize the MRA Board Chairman to sign the contract, and authorize Staff to sign the necessary documents to execute the contract (Notice of Award and Notice To Proceed).
