City of Missoula, Montana Item to be Referred to City Council Committee Committee: Public Works Committee Item: Right-of-Way Encroachment Permit for a well for the new Garlington, Lohn and Robinson (GLR) building located at 138 West Broadway Date: December 3, 2009 Prepared by: Kevin Slovarp Initiated by: Kevin Slovarp Action Required: Approve right-of-way encroachment permit for 138 West Broadway. Recommended Motion: The committee recommends the City Council approve a right-of-way encroachment permit for a well for 138 West Broadway. Timeline: Referral to committee: December 7, 2009 Committee discussion: December 9, 2009 Background and Alternatives Explored: The encroachment is located on the east side of Ryman Street, in the sidewalk, from approximately 50 feet to 220 feet south of the W. Pine Street centerline. The encroachment will provide for the installation of a groundwater heating and cooling well and associated piping for connection of the well to the proposed building mechanical systems at the new GLR building. Other locations considered the alley between W. Pine and W. Broadway but would be substantially impactful to existing businesses fronting W. Broadway.
