For immediate release: December 18, 2009 CONTACT: Marty Rehbein, City Clerk PHONE: [PHONE REDACTED] E-MAIL: [EMAIL REDACTED] Application deadline extended for the Design Review Board The City Council is seeking applications from volunteers to serve on the Design Review Board. The term for the position begins immediately and ends on December 31, 2012. Applicants must be a Missoula County resident. The following non-paying position is open:  One Alternate position serving in the absence or vacancy of any one regular board member. The Design Review Board oversees the Missoula City Zoning Ordinance to review and decide on building graphics, conditional uses, and deviations from the Off-Street Parking, Landscaping and Buffering, and Multi-dwelling Residential Site Plan chapters. The board has specific authority and responsibility for furthering the stated purposes of zoning ordinances that the city council may adopt that provide for design review. Those areas of critical development that positively affect surrounding properties and should be reviewed by the design review board include:  Variances from NC-B Overlay district standards.  Phases of planned unit developments required by city council.  Signage requests provided by 20.75.100.  Design review approval of deviations from otherwise applicable development standards required by 20.85.080. All decisions of the Design Review Board may be appealed to the City Council. The Board meets and the meetings are televised on MCAT. Applicants for the Board will interview with the City Council's Plat, Annexation and Zoning Committee. To apply, pick up an application at the City Clerk Office, City Hall, 435 Ryman St. or download it from the City’s Web site at www.ci.missoula.mt.us/vacancy.
