A summary of the Board’s discussion on the rezoning proposal can be found following the recommended motion. Planning Board’s Recommended Motion: THAT the request to rezone property legally described as Plat H, a tract in the SE ¼ SE ¼ of Section 22, Township 13 North, Range 19 West, P.M.M. from R8 (Residential, 8,000 sq. ft. per dwelling unit) to OP-3 (Public Lands and Institutional) be approved based on the findings of fact in the staff report. Planning Board Discussion: Planning Board agreed with staff’s recommendation on the motion to approve the proposed rezoning. The Board inquired into the history of zoning on this property and why it remained in a residential zoning category up until the present. Planning Board agreed that rezoning the parcel from R8 to OP3 was the appropriate step to match the zoning of the remainder of the UM campus and to facilitate university development projects that otherwise would be subject to a Public Forum before the Board of Adjustment. See Pages 1 through 4 of the Planning Board Minutes (included as Attachment for further Planning Board discussion.
