City of Missoula, Montana Item to be Referred to City Council Committee Committee: BCOW Item: Resolution to set City Tax Levies Date: August 21, 2009 Prepared by: Brentt Ramharter Initiated by: Brentt Ramharter Action Required: Adopt the resolution to set city tax levies for the FY 2010 budget. Recommended Motion: I move the City Council adopt the attached resolution setting city tax levies for FY 2010. Timeline: Referral to committee: August 21, 2009 Committee discussion: September 2 and 9, 2009 Deadline: Have council adopt tax levies ASAP, hopefully by September 14, 2009. This is all dependent on getting valid certified taxable value numbers from the State DOR by August 31st. Background and Alternatives Explored: The city is not scheduled to receive its certified taxable value numbers from the State DOR until August 31, 2009 per the state website. The city will need time to analyze the values received and make recommendations based on the analysis. As soon as the analysis is completed and recommendations are made, the resolution setting tax levies for FY 2010 will be attached to this referral.
