City of Missoula, Montana Item to be Referred to City Council Committee Committee: Public Works Committee Item: MMC Title 12 Parking Section (New) Date: October 2, 2009 Prepared by: Doug Harby Initiated by: Doug Harby Action Required: Set a public hearing to consider an ordinance and an emergency ordinance of the Missoula City Council adopting Missoula Municipal Code Title 12, new chapter, entitled Parking. Recommended Motion: The committee recommends the City Council set a public hearing for November 23, 2009 to consider an ordinance adopting Missoula Municipal Code Title 12, new chapter, entitled Parking. Timeline: Referral to committee: Oct 5, 2009 Committee discussion: Oct 28, 2009 to set public hearing Council acts to set hearing: Nov 2, 2009 Public Hearing: Nov 23, 2009 Background and Alternatives Explored: This is a new section added to Title 12 MMC that coalesces and upgrades parking standards from the proposed MMC Title 20, MMC Title 12, Public Works Standards, ADA Standards, and other accepted standards. Presently these standards are located in several different Codes and documents. The purpose of this new code is to make the implementation of these standards easier for the designers/developers and to place them under the review and enforcement of the City Engineering Division. Also this will make it easier and timelier to upgrade the standards set forth by ADA, which are constantly changing. Financial Implications: None. This review and enforcement has be a part of the City Engineering work plans for many years.
