City of Missoula, Montana Item to be Referred to City Council Committee Committee: Public Works Committee Item: Wastewater Treatment Division Vehicle Purchase Date: December 1, 2009 Prepared by: Jack Stucky Initiated by: Jack Stucky Action Required: Approve the purchase of One 2010 Ford Fusion hybrid from Bison Ford of Great falls, Montana for $25,621.81. This purchase is a cooperative purchasing agreement with the State of Montana. Recommended Motion: The committee recommends the City Council approve the purchase of One 2010 Ford Fusion hybrid from Bison Ford of Great falls, Montana for $25,621.81. Timeline: Referral to committee: 12/7/09 Committee discussion: 12/9/09 Background and Alternatives Explored: This is a scheduled purchase in compliance with the vehicle replacement schedule. This vehicle will be used to respond to after hour and weekend WWT “On Call” issues and alarms. On call vehicles get a tremendous amount of use. This is an attempt to replace a high demand fuel inefficient vehicle (16 mpg) with a more fuel efficient vehicle (41 mpg). The existing WWT van will be transferred to a location that does not have the high amount of use. The goal is to replace an older and even less efficient vehicle with the old WWT van. This helps maximize the fuel efficiency of the fleet as a whole. Financial Implications: The total cost of this purchase is $25,621.81. This is a cooperative purchasing agreement based on Line item #27 of the State of Montana Fall bid. There are no trades included in this purchase. Attachments: None
