City of Missoula, Montana Item to be Referred to City Council Committee Committee: Conservation Item: Change Order #1 White Pine Park Date: 8/11/09 Prepared by: Alan White Initiated by: Donna Gaukler Action Required: Approved changeorder #1 White Pine Park Recommended Motion: I move the City Council adopt a resolution approving for change order #1 for White Pine Park in the amount of $8,838.00 increasing the contract amount to $16,226.00. Timeline: Referral to committee: 8/13/09 Committee discussion: 8/19/09 Background and Alternatives Explored: By statute, we are prevented from installing more than a 35gpm well. This limitation impairs our ability to be able to adequately water a park this size and remain within the hours of non-use with the watering cycle. Ironically, we are allowed by statute to drill a second well to augment the first as long as we don’t tie the irrigation systems together. This information has only been made available by DEQ since the contract went out to bid so we are opting for the second well to avoid irrigating during times of park use. Financial Implications: As the project stands now, we expect be within budget. This request includes Cam’s quote for $6,838.00 for the second well plus a $2,000.00 contingency to provide for dealing with the ground water plume (if encountered) per DEQ’s specifications.
