Painter, Fire Chief Initiated by: (Same) Action Required: Confirm the Mayor's appointment of Fire Captains Troy Ault, Jeff Brandt & Brad Roe. Recommended Motion: I move the City Council confirm the Mayor's appointment of Troy Ault, Jeff Brandt & Brad Roe to the rank of Fire Captain with the Missoula Fire Department. Timeline: Referral to committee: October 30, 2009 Committee discussion: November 4, 2009 (or later) Council Action: November 9, 2009 (tentative) Background and Alternatives Explored: Troy Ault, Jeff Brandt & Brad Roe were appointed to the position of Fire Captain with the Missoula Fire Department on November 1st, 2008 – per our collective bargaining agreement, their promotion was subject to a 1-year probation period. Troy, Jeff & Brad have successfully completed that probationary period and received positive performance appraisals by their respective Battalion Chiefs and MFD's administration. We would ask that the Council confirm his appointment. With the Council's permission, if approved by the Public Safety & Health Committee, we would like to schedule this item to be referred to the Council meeting of November 9th – we will ask Captains Ault, Brandt & Roe to attend that meeting.
