PROCLAMATION WHEREAS, Muscular refers to a group of more than 40 neuromuscular diseases that cause generalized weakness and muscle wasting; and WHEREAS, the Muscular Association is a dedicated partnership of scientists and citizens aimed at conquering neuromuscular diseases through research, patient care and education; and WHEREAS, members of the IAFF #271/Missoula Firefighters serve and protect communities throughout Missoula every day; and WHEREAS, members of the IAFF #271/Missoula Firefighters unselfishly donate their time and energy to supporting the battle against muscular and WHEREAS, firefighters across the nation are some of the largest supporters in the United States of the Muscular Association; NOW, THEREFORE, I, John Engen, Mayor of the City of Missoula, in the State of Montana, do hereby proclaim Saturday, August 22, 2009, as Firefighter / MDA Day in Missoula, Montana and urge all citizens to recognize firefighters for their support of the local community. IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the great seal of the City of Missoula, in the State of Montana, to be affixed at Missoula, Montana, this 11th day of August in the year two thousand nine.
