City of Missoula, Montana Item to be Referred to City Council Committee Committee: Public Works Committee Item: Central Maintenance HVAC contract extension Date: Thursday, September 23, 2010 Prepared by: Jack Stucky Initiated by: Jack Stucky Action Required: Consider extending the Johnson Controls Inc (JCI) contract for the Central Maintenance Facility HVAC services from October 1, 2010 through July 1, 2011 at the same rate as the existing contract, $7,184 per year. Recommended Motion: The committee recommends the City Council authorize the Mayor to sign a contract extension with Johnson Controls Inc extending the existing HVAC contract from October 1st, 2010 through July 1st, 2011. Timeline: Referral to committee: 9/27/10 Committee discussion: 9/29/10 Background and Alternatives Explored: The HVAC contract with JCI expires on October 1, 2010. Extending this contract through July 1, 2011 at the same rate as last year ($7,184) will enable us to bring all the HVAC contracts into the same time frame. The intention is to bring City Hall, Council Chambers, and Central Maintenance HVAC contract expiration and due dates to the same time period. This extension will also help reduce conflict between the performance contract service and the maintenance service. Financial Implications: This project will not change the cost of our existing HVAC service for this fiscal year ($7,184). It may change after we solicit new service contracts in July of 2011.
