Recommended Motion: Timeline: Referral to committee: Committee discussion: Council acts to set hearing: Public Hearing: Deadline: Background and Alternatives Explored: An example that has been brought to light is Title 19 contained an exempt to housing design that allowed a garage to protrude beyond the face of the home. Elimination of this exemption will result in: 1) Difficulty in maintaining the character of existing neighborhoods. 2) Restrictions on blending ADUs to primary dwelling. 3) Restrictions on single-level housing preferred by senior population 4) Increase in housing cost, as builder will no longer be able to purchase plans from existing books but need to hire architects. 5) Limits an individual property owners’ right to build housing to meet their needs.
