City of Missoula, Montana Item to be Referred to City Council Committee Committee: Public Works Committee Item: CS Porter School Speed Zone Date: June 5, 2009 Prepared by: Jessica Miller Initiated by: Steve King Action Required: Adopt a resolution reducing speeds on Reserve Street near CS Porter Middle School. Recommended Motion: The committee recommends the City Council adopt a Resolution (A or B) reducing speeds on Reserve Street near CS Porter Middle School. Timeline: Referral to committee: June 15, 2009 Committee discussion: July 17, 2009 Background and Alternatives Explored: A speed study was conducted by the Montana Department of Transportation on Reserve Street near CS Porter Middle School, initiated by the Mayor after citizen concerns and Council discussions. Council requested the Mayor to direct staff to draft a resolution lowering the limit, based on conclusions from the study. Financial Implications: Signage will be paid for by MDT.
