City of Missoula, Montana Item to be Referred to City Council Committee Committee: Public Safety and Health Item: Bid Award for Facility Improvements Project 09-036: Missoula Police Dept – Meeting Room Remodel @ 1305 Scott St. Date: July 23, 2009 Prepared by: Monte Sipe Initiated by: Mike Brady Action Required: Review bids for facility improvement project, award bid to lowest bidder and authorize return of bid bonds. Recommended Motion: "I move the City Council award the bid for Project 09-036, Missoula Police Department Meeting Room Remodel to Sirius Construction, for the Base Bid amount of $54,009 and 5% Contingency of $2,700, Bid Alternate #3 for a deduct amount of ($3,040), Bid Alternate #4 in the amount of $606 for a total contract award of $54,275 and authorize return of bid bonds." Timeline: Referral to committee: July 27, 2009 Committee discussion: July 29, 2009 Council acts to set hearing: NA Public Hearing: NA Deadline: NA Background and Alternatives Explored: This project is needed to accommodate storage and briefing space required for the Police Patrol Division and Special Teams Units. Equipment essential to special team deployment and activities can be stored and readily accessible for any emergency deployment at this facility as well as serve for briefing and preparation space for emergency events. The patrol briefings and shift changes will occur at this facility to provide relief of inadequate space of current accommodations in city hall. This project is being funded with drug forfeiture funds and up to $5000 of the Police Department General fund budget for Repair and Maintenance.
