City of Missoula, Montana Item to be Referred to City Council Committee Committee: Public Safety & Health Item: Confirmation of Jeff Logan as Assistant Fire Chief Date: December 4, 2009 Prepared by: Michael L. Painter, Fire Chief, Missoula Fire Department Initiated by: Same Action Required: Confirm Mayor's appointment of Jeff Logan as Assistant Fire Chief with the Missoula Fire Department. Recommended Motion: I move the City Council confirm the Mayor's appointment of Jeff Logan as Assistant Fire Chief with the Missoula Fire Department. Timeline: Referral to committee: December 4, 2009 Committee discussion: December 16th, December 23rd or December 30th, 2009 Background and Alternatives Explored: Jeff Logan was promoted to Assistant Fire Chief effective July 5th, 2009 - per City personnel policy, that promotion is subject to a 6 month probationary period. AC Logan has completed that probationary period and has excelled in his new position. Chief Painter is in the process of completing a probationary performance evaluation and will present a list of Jeff's accomplishments during his first 6 months to PSH. With the Council's approval we would like to schedule a vote on his confirmation to take place at the January 4th, 2010, City Council meeting. Financial Implications: N/A Attachments: N/A
