Painter Fire Chief Action Required: City Council approve the Mayor signing a contract for services with Emergency Response Training Institute (ERTI) to provide a Hazardous Materials Technician certification course @ Missoula Fire Department (August 31st through September 4th, 2009). Recommended Motion: I move the City Council approve and authorize the Mayor to sign a contract for services with Emergency Response Training Institute (ERTI) in the amount of $34.981.20 which is being funded by a grant to provide a Hazardous Materials Technician certification course @ Missoula Fire Department. Timeline: Referral to committee: August 17, 2009 Committee discussion: August 19, 2009 Council acts to set hearing: n/a Deadline: August 24, 2009 (Training scheduled to start August 31, 2009) Background and Alternatives Explored: The Missoula Fire Department has received approval for grant funding through the Montana State Department of Emergency Services to put on a 90-hour Hazardous Materials Technician certification course here in Missoula. Because the cost of the course exceeds $10,000, we are seeking council approval for the Mayor to sign the contract with Emergency Response Training Institute (ERTI) to provide that training. Financial Implications: Because the grant is funding the cost of the training and the course is being held in Missoula @ MFD's facility, we will be able to send eight firefighters at no travel or tuition cost to our training budget. MFD will be investing our personnel's time in attending the training. Attachments: Service Agreement with ERTI ---PAGE BREAK--- State DES Training Grant funding notification
