City of Missoula, Montana Item to be Referred to City Council Committee Committee: Public Works Committee Item: Purchase of Three Snow Plows and Hitches Date: Wednesday, May 27, 2009 Prepared by: Jack Stucky Initiated by: Jack Stucky Action Required: Award the purchase of three 2009, Henke, Power Angle Snow Plows with Hitches to Henke Manufacturing of Leavenworth, Kansas for $22,338 for all three snow plows and hitch assemblies. Henke is the low bid vendor. Please see the attached bid tabulations. Recommended Motion: The committee recommends the City Council return all bid bonds and award the purchase of Three 2009, Henke, Power Angle Snow Plows with Hitches to Henke Manufacturing of Leavenworth, Kansas for $22,338 for all three snow plows and hitch assemblies. Henke is the low bid vendor. Timeline: Referral to committee: 6/1/09 Committee discussion: 6/3/09 Background and Alternatives Explored: These are snow plow and underbody style hitches for the three new single axle sander trucks we purchased earlier this year. These trucks have frame mounted sanding units and will be used by the Street Division for response to winter snow storms. Financial Implications: This is a CIP purchase for the Street Division. There is $330,000 in CIP funds allocated for this purchase in the Fy09 CIP. The trucks cost $289,017. There is $40,983 remaining to purchase snow plows, hitches and misc fittings and couplers. Any and all remaining funds (approximately $18,600) will be returned to General Fund or not financed. The complete purchase will not exceed the budgeted $330,000. Attachments: Bid Tabulation
