City of Missoula, Montana Item to be Referred to City Council Committee Committee: Planning, Annexation and Zoning Item: Council Appointments to the Historic Preservation Commission Date: November 6, 2009 Prepared by: Kelly Elam Initiated by: Action Required: Conduct interviews and appoint two professional positions to the Historic Preservation Commission. Recommended Motion: I move the City Council appoint and as professional members of the Historic Preservation Commission for a term commencing January 1, 2010 and ending December 31, 2012. Timeline: Referral to committee: November 9, 2009 Committee discussion: December 9, 2009 Deadline: December 31, 2009 Background: There are two professional positions open on the Historic Preservation Commission. Candidates for professional positions on the HPC should have professional expertise in the disciplines of history, planning, archeology, architecture, architectural history, historic archeology, or other historic preservation related disciplines such as cultural geography or cultural anthropology. Retired professionals are to be given consideration equal to that of practicing professionals. Residency within the city is not a prerequisite for membership as a professional member on HPC. Applications close on November 13, 2009. When the application deadline expires on November 13, 2009, the City Clerk office will schedule interviews.
