City of Missoula, Montana Item to be Referred to City Council Committee Committee: Administration and Finance Item: Revised Land Use Fees Date: October 16, 2009 Prepared by: Denise Alexander, OPG Initiated by: Denise Alexander, OPG Action Required: Set a public hearing. Recommended Motion: I move the City Council set a public hearing on November 2, 2009 establishing a new Land Use Applications fee schedule pursuant to the adoption of Title 20 Missoula City Zoning Ordinance. Timeline: Referral to committee: A & F Committee discussion: October 14, 2009 Council acts to set hearing: October 18, 2009 Public Hearing: November 2, 2009 Background and Alternatives Explored: Title 20 Missoula City Zoning Ordinance that was adopted on October 5, 2009 will be effective November 4, 2009. Several categories of the current fee schedule for land use applications no longer reflect the land use applications that are enabled in Title 20; e.g. Conditional Uses will now be heard by the City Council rather than the Design Review Board, some special zoning districts have been converted to conditional uses, new zoning districts and overlays have been created, and all property owner notifications will be sent by certified mail instead of first class mail. These changes must be reflected in the fee schedule for land use applications. This referral is a request to set a public hearing on a new fee schedule for land use applications.
