City of Missoula, Montana Item to be Referred to City Council Committee Committee: Administration and Finance Item: Set the 2010 City Council meeting schedule Date: December 11, 2009 Prepared by: Marty Rehbein, City Clerk Initiated by: Marty Rehbein, City Clerk Action Required: Staff recommends the City Council approve the 2010 City Council regular meeting schedule. Recommended Motion: "I move the City Council approve the 2010 City Council regular meeting schedule and direct the City Clerk to publish the meeting schedule in the legal notices and on the City web site in accordance with City Council rules." Timeline: Referral to committee: December 11, 2009 Committee discussion: December 16, 2009 Deadline: December 21, 2009 Background and Alternatives Explored: City Council rules require that the City Council determine its regular meeting schedule for the coming calendar year and publish that schedule in the newspaper including the date, time, and place of the meetings prior to the new year. The schedule can be amended by publishing another notice. I've included a 2010 calendar below. I have reviewed the 2010 calendar and recommend the City Council meet the first four Mondays of each month in 2009 at 7:00 p.m. in the City Council Chambers 140 W. Pine Street, except the following dates noted below: January 18, 2010– Martin Luther King Day February 15, 2010– President’s Day July 5, 2010—Independence Day September 6, 2010– Labor Day October 12, 2010– Columbus Day The Council may want to consider looking at December 27th since it falls between two three day weekends.
