Recommended Motion: The committee recommends the City Council authorize the Mayor to accept the Competitive Request for Proposal (CRP) submitted by Alter Enterprise of Missoula Montana to convert an existing City owned Toyota Prius from hybrid to plug in hybrid for $13,999. Timeline: Referral to committee: September 13th, 2010 Committee discussion: September 15th, 2010 Background and Alternatives Explored: As part of the energy savings program, a CRP was created to convert unit 800 a City owned Toyota Prius from standard hybrid to a plug in hybrid. The conversion will enable the Prius to operate at speeds of up to 52 miles per hour in EV mode with an approximate 50 mile EV range. Please see the attached document. There are few technicians capable of installing these conversion kits. We were fortunate enough to find a firm in East Missoula that has the technology to make this conversion. As a result, Alter Enterprises was the only firm to supply a quote. Financial Implications: This project will cost $13,999. It is totally funded by the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant (EECBG) Program. Chase Jones was responsible for pursuing and acquiring this grant funding.
