City of Missoula, Montana Item to be Referred to City Council Committee Committee: Conservation / Public Works Item: Public Sewer Easement in Hamilton Park Date: July 29, 2009 Prepared by: Gregg Wood Initiated by: Gregg Wood Action Required: Grant a public sanitary sewer easement for SID 544 – Rattlesnake Sewer Project in Hamilton Park Recommended Motion: I move the City Council grant an easement to allow a sanitary sewer main to be installed in Hamilton Park in accordance with the attached Public Sanitary Sewer Easement. Timeline: Referral to committee: July 31, 2009 Committee discussion: August 5, 2009 Background and Alternatives Explored: SID 544 – Rattlesnake Sewer project was approved by City Council on July 13, 2009. Parks Board recommended approval of public sanitary sewer easement on July 28, 2009. Easement was requested by citizens to facilitate a sewer connection to the rear of their property. For at least three properties which currently have septic systems in their backyards, it is more practical and less impactful to connect to the rear of their properties than it would be to run around the property and out the front to Parkside Lane. Financial Implications: This will lower connection cost for at least three properties and reduce overall project cost by reducing surface reparations on Parkside Lane.
